AAA Endorses Council Member Jose “Chito” Vela and Council Member Mackenzie Kelly for Second Terms 

The Austin Apartment Association is proud to endorse Council Member Jose “Chito” Vela for District 4 and Council Member Mackenzie Kelly for District 6.  

Both council members have worked diligently throughout their first terms to improve the City of Austin.  

Council Member Chito Vela was first elected in 2022 after Congressman Greg Casar vacated his seat to run for his current seat in U.S. House. Since taking office, Council Member Vela has championed affordability, robust public safety, and investments in infrastructure.  

Council Member Mackenzie Kelly was first elected in 2020 to District 6. In her time on council, she has worked to improve public safety, address affordability concerns and improve the city’s response to future severe weather events.  

Both members have consistently worked with Austin Apartment Association members to address their concerns and craft policy that improves the quality of life in Austin. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the council members and their teams.
